Best Noise Cancelling Headphones
Bose QuietComfort 3, Audio Technica ATH-ANC7B, JVC HA-NC250 Headphone Reviews
We present the 3 best noise cancelling headphones based on a combination of consumer popularity and price to value ratio.
The Bose QuietComfort 15 is the top ranked contender for noise cancelling headphones.
But it comes with a steep price tag. If you're not in the mood to shell out $300 for headphones, seriously consider the headphones presented on this page as alternatives.
You'll be receiving close to Bose quality sound with excellent noise cancellation, for less than half the price — a great deal in our opinion.
1. Sony MDR-NC60
These are the best noise cancelling headphones you can buy from Sony. They feature an over-the-ear design which in general is more comfortable than the Bose QuietComfort 15's on-the-ear design, but it does make them slightly bulkier.
Excellent sound, excellent noise cancellation and an excellent price make these headphones an excellent alternative to the Bose headphones. In fact some consumers thought they sounded even better!
They also do not create the "suction" effect that consumers complain about with the Bose headphones.
A feature that makes these headphones standout from the competition is a "monitor" switch which allows you to tune into the conversations around you without turning off noise cancellation or removing the headphones. Not an essential feature, but very cool to have if you fly frequently so you can conveniently talk to flight attendants when they come by (or eavesdrop on your neighbors!).
They include a removable headphone cable, airline adapter and carrying case.

2. JVC HA-NC250
These are the best noise cancelling headphones you can buy from JVC and they are extremely popular. They also feature an over-the-ear design. However, the earpads fold flat which makes them very portable.
What makes these headphones unique is that they are the lightest headphones in this class, weighing only 5.3 ounces. This feature coupled with the over-the-ear design and memory foam earpads keeps them very comfortable for long periods of time.
They also have excellent sound and no apparent hiss with noise cancellation activated. They include a removable headphone cable, airline adapter and carrying case.

3. Audio Technica ATH-ANC7B
Last in this list are the best Audio Technica noise cancelling headphones. They are super popular, but get slightly lower marks than the Sony and JVC due to a lot of sound leakage from the earpads.
They also feature an over-the-ear design, a padded headband and leather (or leather-like) earcups. They have excellent sound quality and great noise cancellation but are slightly weak on the bass.
They also do not create the sensation of ear pressure like the Bose does.
Similar to the other headphones featured here, they include a removable headphone cable, airline adapter and carrying case which makes them travel-ready.

Noise cancelling headphones are a must-have for anyone who listens to music while working in an office environment, college students and frequent flyers.
Not everyone has $300 to buy headphones, so we've found 3 alternatives that should fit the bill just fine. All 3 of the headphones featured here provide excellent sound, excellent noise cancellation and are available for about one-third of the price of the Bose QuietComfort 15.
They also have excellent consumer reviews. You won't go wrong with any of these noise cancelling headphones!
