Bose QC2
Bose QuietComfort 2 Noise Cancelling Headphones

The Bose QC2 or QuietComfort 2 is an older model of the award winning Bose noise cancelling headphone series, that is still available if you look around.

Noise cancellation headphones help to cancel out background noise using electronic technology.

The noise cancelling technology provided in headphones works by identifying outside noise such as sounds from mechanical engines and then creating a reverse sine-wave of noise which effectively interferes with the ambient background noise.

Thus, noise cancelling headphones cancel out ambient noise by adding sound that turns outside disturbances into blank, white noise which the brain easily filters out. Unwanted background sounds still reach your eardrums, but you don't realize it's there.

Bose offers a full range of noise cancelling headphones which cancel out up to a minimum of 10dB of ambient noise. Advances in Bose technology has seen their headphones, especially the noise cancelling varieties gain high rankings in the headphone industry.

Acoustic noise cancelling headphone technology combined with years of research work by Bose Engineers delivers top quality audio performance and noise cancelling capabilities in Bose headphones.

Ambient noise is effectively cancelled out without any noticeable reduction in sound quality with Bose noise cancelling headphones.

Bose QuietComfort2 Noise Cancelling Headphones
The Bose QuietComfort 2 Acoustic Noise Cancelling headphone is a typical noise cancellation headphone made by Bose.

It features the award winning Acoustic noise cancellation technology which electronically identifies and reduces unwanted noise around you when listening on the headphone.

This enables you to hear more of your music in the presence of ambient noise such as the hum of jet engines in an airplane.

Thus, low frequency sounds are effectively cancelled out, but higher frequency sounds such as people talking may still be heard.

This is a disadvantage with most noise cancelling headphones and is not just particular to the Bose QC2's alone.

This disadvantage has made most manufacturers produce noise cancelling headphones with special ergonomic designs that help physically isolate higher frequency background sounds. The QC2's are earcup headphones which are also good in isolating higher frequency sounds.

The QC2 headphones are especially convenient for people who travel constantly as their noise cancellation feature comes to good use in cancelling out noise from jet engines, train sounds and loud music in noisy café's and shops.

When worn for the first time, there is usually a feeling akin to pressure on the ears but this feeling gradually disappears.

The Bose Quiet Comfort 2 headphones are very light and comfortable on the ears. They fold flat and can be easily stored in a carrying case that comes along with it for easier mobility. These headphones are single-cable design headphones that do not get in the way.

The cable is detachable and can be removed when you only want to use its noise reduction features in noisy environments.

Sounds from this headphone are good with impressive bass reproduction. Higher frequency sounds are also well represented without hissing distortions. This headphone uses one AAA battery that can last between 24-30 hours of use.

The Bose QC2 headphones are not suitable for use when exercising as they are quite bulky and may weigh heavily on the ears during workouts. They also do not support extended usage as the insulation of the earpieces make the ears sweat if worn for too long.

This is usually only a problem at the initial stage as these headphones take some getting used to. As with most Bose headphones, the price tag on this headphone is on the high side but is somewhat justified in its product features.

Best price on the Bose QuietComfort 2

The Bose QuietComfort 2 headphones are good mid-range noise cancelling headphones that provide solace from unwanted surrounding noise. They are good in cancelling out low frequency sounds and isolating higher frequency sounds.

This is an added advantage that you should take into consideration as electronic noise cancellation alone may not cancel out all forms of background noise.
