Bose QC3
Bose QuietComfort 3 Noise Cancelling Headphones

The Bose QC3 or QuietComfort 3 is the predecessor to the latest entry in the Bose noise cancelling headphone lineup — the Bose QuietComfort 15.

Bose noise cancelling headphones are the products of decades of Bose technological research and the famed Acoustic Noise Cancelling Technology was borne out of this. It is a fact that electronic noise cancelling technology in headphones is achieved at a price.

Most noise cancellation headphones significantly reduce sound quality while cancelling out ambient noise. This major disadvantage is reduced to its barest minimum by most Bose noise cancelling headphones.

Enough care and caution has been taken by Bose Engineers in producing some of the best noise cancelling headphones on the market.

The Bose QuietComfort series of headphones are made with some of the best noise cancelling technology the industry has to offer.

Though the price of most Bose headphones are on the high side, the Bose QuietComfort series of headphones do a very good job of cancelling out ambient noise. Hence, their high price is justified if not deemed economical in the long run.

Bose QuietComfort3 Noise Cancelling Headphones
The Bose QuietComfort3 Noise Cancelling Headphones were made to improve on the deficiencies of the Bose QuietComfort2 noise cancelling headphone.

Though the Bose QC3 may be somewhat better than the QC2 in certain aspects, many people still prefer the QC2's overall.

The noise cancelling capabilities of the Bose QC3's are better than that of the QC2's, though this comes at a price.

The QC3's noise cancellation is quite aggressive and some remarkable pressure on the ears is felt.

This is not physical pressure but a psycho-acoustic result of noise cancellation in headphones which can be perceived more in the QC3's. The on-ear design of the QC3's does not isolate background noise effectively because of the absence of deep ear cups or earplugs.

This does not overly affect the noise cancellation capabilities of the QC3's but higher frequency background sounds can still be significantly heard. Audio quality from the Bose QC3 headphone is quite good but low frequency sounds are a little heavy to the point of sounding muddy.

The QC3 headphones are very light and do not put pressure on the ears to the point of being uncomfortable. Hence, they support extended wear.

These headphones are durable but need to be treated with care and respect. The stem of the QC3 is quite narrow and may be prone to breaking if treated roughly. Though made to cancel out noise more effectively, the perceived pressure on the ears may be unbearable for some users.

The open design of the QC3's adds to the need for more effective, albeit aggressive noise cancelling technique.

In the long run, an individual may get used to the more aggressive nature of noise cancelling from the QC3's which are more effective, though many users who do not have the patience will opt for a less aggressive noise cancelling headphone.

The QC3's use a lithium ion rechargeable battery which is a welcome upgrade from the AAA battery type of the QC2's. Other accessories that come with this headphone include dual plug adapter, AC battery charger and carrying case.

No headphone on the market can completely cancel out ambient noise, but the Bose QC3's come close. With its acoustic technology and Triport structure, sound quality is guaranteed.

The need for comfort and less muddy sounds put the QC3's in danger of being rejected by many headphone users. You may want to consider its better noise cancelling capabilities though, especially if you do travel a lot and require a short recovery time from jetlag.

The Bose QuietComfort 3 Noise Cancelling Headphones are better than most headphones on the market in cancelling out ambient noise but this comes at a price.

For most users, this is not a grave disadvantage, but for some who desire optimal comfort while listening to music, this is certainly an issue. Overall, these headphones are deemed economically viable and provide value for money spent.
