Zune device software repeatedly updates and asks for restart of computer

Hello, I have a problem with my 120 GB Zune. Not with the player but with my PC.

When I plug the Zune into my 64-bit Vista home computer, the computer finds the device driver software, asks for me to restart my computer so the changes can take effect, and I do. But as soon as it reboots it just loops and does the same scenario over and over again.

The Zune works on my laptop of the same Windows (64-bit), so i don't know my problem.

I went through all of the checks in http://www.world-of-zune.com/zune-not-detected.html and they did not solve my problem.

So if you could help in anyway possible I'd be very grateful.

Hi Tyler,

I haven't faced this issue myself, but I did come across someone who did. The following solution seemed to solve their problem.

After installing the device driver and before you reboot your PC make sure to disconnect your Zune. Start your Zune software and then connect your Zune.

This worked for a couple of people. I hope it fixes your issue.

That's a bummer! I've seen a lot of information about PCs going into continuous reboot cycles, but nothing else pertaining to the Zune device driver.

As a next step, I would recommend contacting the official Zune support. (Note that the Zune site is currently down for maintenance.)

If you happen to solve this problem, please come back and post the solution here for the benefit of other readers who may hit this issue.

I tried the method you recommended, but to no avail. Any other ideas?
